Want to perform?

MANAGERS/AGENTS Please e-mail comedy@amusedmoose.com with details of acts you represent with whatever proposals you have about them performing at Amused Moose Soho or Amused Moose Camden - whether this is a set, or solo show(s), or a showcase of your acts. (If the act is "new" then you will probably be interested in the way we showcase New Talent within our Amused Moose Comedy Awards so they get seen by bookers, promoters, and other industry folk - see below).

We can occasionally offer a "run" (as we did last year for Mark Thomas at AmusedMooseSoho where the venue requires a minimum audience of 100, and again at AmusedMooseCamden). However we can usually provide a regular evening at AmusedMooseCamden every few weeks if you are wanting to put on a show which is a work-in-progress that will be sufficiently popular to continue to draw a reasonable fringe-size audience (minimum of 30 ticket buyers, ideally 50+) - we did this for Lee Mack's Bits in our previous small venue in Soho, which was an ongoing delight and great fun - a few months later the show was nominated for the Perrier, and launched Catherine Tate into comedy. The e-mail address for managers and agents to use is comedy@amusedmoose.com

EDINBURGH PREVIEWS in May/June/July - usually two per evening. Please e-mail as far ahead as possible if you wish your show to be included, at the above email address. There is only limited availability, and it is under considerable pressure as the Fringe nears. Email comedy@amusedmoose.com

EDINBURGH FRINGE SHOWS We can provide rehearsal space in London too, as well as directors and producers (contact AMEnts@HilsJago.com) and the opportunity to produce your own show on the Fringe to cut costs considerably and put you in control generally and of budgets, on a DIY (or supported DIY) basis - details from courses@standupanddeliver.com

COMEDIANS
If you are an established comedian/comedy performer interested in putting on a Fringe-type stand-up/comedy/sketch show at AmusedMoose, please tell us about what you are thinking of doing, and include your CV etc. You will need to assure us that you will draw a reasonable audience (100+ at AmusedMooseSoho, or 30 ticket buyers at least but ideally at least double that at AmusedMooseCamden), or there is potential to pay a hire fee as well/instead. E-mail to comedy@amusedmoose.com

Established comedians wanting a gig at AmusedMoose should e-mail us, bearing in mind we don't usually book acts unseen so e-mail us your CV/giglist etc.
If you are from far outside London please include names of comedians you have gigged with who work on the London circuit who have agreed to recommend you when we speak to them. We may well ask you to do a short tryout spot at AmusedMooseCamden when you are already going to be in London for a few days.
Comedians from abroad should e-mail us the same information as far as is possible - be sure you tell us which clubs you perform at (and how long your set there is) in New York for example, or which festivals and galas you've been on (and what show/set length), and what your ranking is there (please don't exaggerate! - people sometimes unwisely do - but we have contacts round the world and the web is an easy way for us to start checking!).
E-mail to comedy@amusedmoose.com

If you're a new comedian do note that we are not an "open spot" venue. However you will probably be interested in the opportunity of being included in AmusedMooseComedy AWARDS (qualifying auditions and heats run from January to May) which is for fresh new comedians who show originality, promise, and the spark of something special. Be prepared to only do THREE MINUTES at your audition and FIVE MINUTES at your heat if you pass the audition, comprising your usual opening material, your best gag/story or two, and then your close ... you will be red-lighted if you overrun.
Do note that these auditions are not for brand new comedians nor new material - we expect you to have done maybe 20 or more open spots, and importantly to have been rebooked to many of them, and do your material which you have proved works and is the most entertaining and funny (this is important!).
Contact am.laughoff06@yahoo.co.uk

If you are interested in being in AMUSED MOOSE COMEDY AWARDS but live a long way from London, then we may make exceptions to the audition rule providing you can get a recommendation from someone we know, who knows what we're looking for - we did this for WILL HODGSON early in 2003 who won the Perrier Newcomer award in 2004.

We aim to keep the competition as fair as we possibly can, though we do reserve the right to select contestants and make arbitrary decisions so it's best to be nice to us! (The first secret of comedy is to be nice to promoters! ... actually the first secrets are to be funny and reliable, the second is to be nice to promoters!). Generally the running order be selected randomly, and additions of scores (which are independently doublechecked) can be verified after each show by any contestant who wishes.

In 2002, 2003 and 2004 we selected 20+ comedians from the AmusedMooseTalentQuest (as it was called then) to form the team to appear for between 2 and 6 shows each in AmusedMooseComedy's Hot Starlets, at Underbelly, Assembly Rooms, and Pleasance respectively, on the Edinburgh Fringe. Amongst these are winners and runners up in all the Edinburgh new comedian competitions, and many of the competitions around the country too.

Lastly if you are thinking about becoming a comedian or are a beginner please be aware we do not run OpenSpot nights.
You could decide to gain experience and get slightly ahead of the game (by having a good idea about what to do and how to do it before actually gigging) by participating in one of our Absolute and Almost Beginners Comedy Courses which include a showcase at the end - see the Courses page on this website, and then e-mail us on courses@standupanddeliver.com

Within no time at all, from starting this course we have had winners and finalists in Hackney New Acts competition, ITV's Take The Mic, Daily Telegraph Open Mic, C4 So You Think You're Funny, BBC Comedy Awards, Jongleurs Spike Award, and Funny Women for example, and some have signed with bigname managers and agents, appeared in Edinburgh Fringe shows, and travel the world. Hooray!
