Hal Cruttenden (Royal Variety Performance; host of Live at the Apollo)
Hal is one of the top comedians working in the UK today, as well as being a highly accomplished writer and actor.
Over the last year he’s made his second appearances on The Royal Variety Performance hosted Live at the Apollo, was the guest comic in the final of The Great British Bake Off: An Extra Slice. He’s also appeared on Would I Lie To You?, Have I Got News For You, Sunday Night at the Palladium, Mock The Week, Pointless Celebrities, Alan Davies: As Yet Untitled, and Hal wrote and performed in his own Radio 4 sitcom Hal.
He’s been nominated for the prestigious Perrier and The Chortle Awards and his recent tour - Tough Luvvie finishes in February 2015 after 170 dates!
Having originally trained at the Central School of Speech and Drama, his acting career includes roles on TV and film in Shackleton, Eastenders, Out of the Blue, Touching Evil and Bramwell. Film credits include: The Madness of King George and Mrs Dalloway. Theatre work includes Making News at the Edinburgh Festival and Orwell A Celebration at Trafalgar Studios London and the Edinburgh Festival.
Internationally, Hal’s travelled across Canada on the Just For Laughs Comedy tours, including two Just For Laughs Galas in Montreal hosted by Joan Rivers (2008) and Howie Mandel (2012). He has also performed shows at the Kilkenny Cat Laughs Festival. Other international comedy tours include India, Bermuda, the Netherlands, Belgium, Germany, Denmark, Norway, Ireland, Abu Dhabi, Dubai, Qatar, Kuwait, Bahrain, Jakarta, Bali, Shanghai, Hong Kong and Singapore. For the British Armed Forces he has played gigs in the Falkland Islands, Cyprus and Germany.
