Feisty Glaswegian Susan Calman gave up a lucrative career in corporate law to become a comedian and has since proven to be one of the fastest rising stars in comedy. She reached the semi-finals of the BBC New Comedy Awards and 'So You Think You're Funny' in 2005, was a finalist in the prestigious 'Funny Women' competition in 2006. More recently she was awarded 'Best New Comedian' at The Real Radio Scottish Variety Awards becoming resident compere at Glasgow's most famous comedy club 'The Stand' in the process.

In 2007 Susan was cast in 'Ugly Kid', a sketch show which was a sell-out at the Edinburgh Festival and following critical acclaim, was commissioned as a pilot for Channel 4. The show was renamed 'Blowout' and the cast went on to be awarded a Scottish BAFTA that same year. In 2008 she appeared in the 'Rab C Nesbitt Christmas Special' following this up with a starring role the programme's ninth series (BBC 2) and was also commissioned to generate exclusive content for MySpace Comedy and BBC comedy extra. She has also written and appeared in 'Inverceleb' and 'the Auld Grey Thistle test' on Radio Scotland.

Susan is the host of 'Funny Friends' (BBC Radio Scotland) in which she interviews notable comedians on their lives and careers. This year she has become the first choice stand in for Fred MacAulay on his BBC Radio Scotland breakfast show and appeared on both 'The News Quiz','The Unbelievable Truth' and 'Vote Now' show.
